Agra is a city located on the banks of the river yamuna. It is one of the most populated cities of Uttar Pradesh. Agra is described in Mahabharata as ‘the border of the forest. The city has aquired fame due to it being the capital of the Mughal empire and hence is now a major tourist destination. The city has still got many of the Mughal era buildings having their typical architecture and design, most notable being the Taj mahal, Agra Fort etc. The city is also known as Akbarabad. There is also a city Fatehpur Sikri near Agra which was built by then Mughal emperor Akbar and is now a very famous tourist destination. Agra cuisine is Mughal and has got all the distinctive preparations and food stuffs.
