Pune also known as punyanagri is the eight largest metropolis in
India, it is also the second largest metropolis in Maharashatra.It wa
once the capital of the Maratha Empire, situated 560 metres above sea
level on the Deccan plateau at the confluence of the Mula and Mutha
rivers. Pune is also the administrative capital of Pune district. Pune
is also said to be the cultural and traditional capital of the state
of Maharashtra. It epitomizes the Marathi culture, thereby laying
emphasis on education, arts and crafts, music, literature and theatre.
